A Notable November in San Francisco, Nayarit, Mexico

Just when you thought there were no more weather surprises left, along comes November 2013 to our small pueblo here on the west coast of Mexico, variously known as The Riviera Nayarit, The Nayarit Riviera, Riviera Vallarta (that’s a new one) or the Bahia Banderas.

Consider these facts for November based on the San Pancho Weather Station database which goes back to May of 2008:

  • The highest daytime temperature on record, period: 96.8 F or 36 C (previous annual high 93.2 F or 34 C in Aug ’09)
  • The highest heat index reading ever for November: 108.4 F or 42.4 C
  • The highest yearly average heat index: 100 F or 37.8 C (previous record in Nov ’09 97.6 F)
  • The most rain on record for November: 0.7 inches (previous 0.31 inches in Nov ’09)
  • The most days with measurable rain: 5 days (previous record was 2 days in Nov ’09)
  • The least amount of sunshine hours (yes, we track that too): 145 hours (previous minimum number: 196 in Nov ’09)

It was an unusual November. It seems that November 2009 offered it’s own surprises. You’ll find more statistics at the “San Pancho Stats” page of the San Pancho Weather Station.

I’m planning some updates for the New Year. We’ll be putting links to the tide and surf information in a more prominent place along with some other changes. If you have some suggestions for the San Pancho Weather Station website, please let me know. If you are the hide-bound type and don’t like change, I’m happy to hear from you too

Seasons Greetings!
