Daylight Time Arrives Tomorrow!

Sunday morning at 2 a.m. is exactly when Daylight Saving Time begins in San Pancho. April 6th, a few weeks behind our neighbors to the north, but better late than never.

For those unfamiliar with our time zone, you’d think we should be in the Mountain Time zone and that’s correct geographically and politically since we are a part of the State of Nayarit. But since the “Riviera Nayarit” is really more connected to the commerce and travel destination of Vallarta instead of our capital of Tepic, we joined the Puerto Vallarta or central time zone a few years back.

That eliminated a lot of the confusion for visitors and residents alike. Things like airline arrival times ( 11 a.m. at the airport but 10 a.m. ‘our time’) was very unwieldy. So the change was a good one. At the same time, joining the Central Time folks means we have later sunsets year round.

So now prepare for a sunset around 8:20 on Sunday! More time to linger over a refreshing drink at the beach.

When retiring Saturday, move your clocks AHEAD one hour. You’re not required to stay up until 2 to do it.

Oh yes, the weather. Well, we had no rain in March. Ditto that for April. Temperatures will continue to warm slightly, daytime highs in the mid to upper 80s, overnight lows in the mid 60s. Perfect conditions for the celebration of Semana Santa in San Pancho!

Such is life here on the beach in San Francisco, Nayarit. The sweetest, friendliest pueblo in all of Mexico!
