Summer comes Early to San Pancho

For those of us in San Pancho throughout May, it is clear that this was a particularly hot month. Hotter than any other May on record, especially if you keep an eye on our old friend “Heat Index”, the way the temperature feels, a combination of the temperature and humidity.

The high Heat Index for May was 108.5 on the last day of the month:

These are like July Heat Index readings, so settle in for a long hot summer.

Not to be outdone, the month of June started out with a bang with another new record for the year. A high Heat Index of 111 F at 6 pm. Enough already!

Also on the 1st of June, we reached a new high for the year: 91.20 F.

We noted the first hurricane of the season this past month: Amanda. She fortunately was hundreds of miles off shore. The cat 4 storm was the biggest Pacific storm on record for May. She drop a few light showers over the pueblo, but that was it.

If you enjoy wallowing in statistics, we have a bunch of them at the San Pancho Weather Station. Here’s a particularly good page to make comparisons to previous years.   You can make your own forecasts using past performance as a guide.
