April – A Hot Time in the Old Town

April was unusually warm, no, hot for San Pancho. Temperatures and humidity were above average.

Usual humidity readings at our seaside village on the Riviera Nayarit are around 75%. This April we hovered around 85%, often reaching 90% or better.

The high temperature in town last month was 84.7 F which was lower than April of last year when we had a high of 87.5 F. Most April highs are in the low to mid 80s.

If you were with us, it felt more like June than April. It just felt very hot with the April heat index peaking at 96.8 degrees one day. A comparable June Heat Index would be in the 105 degree range!

Looking ahead to the rest of May, based on past records, expect high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s, the Heat Index to be in the mid to upper 90s and a 50/50 likelihood of some rainfall, but probably in the range of .50 to .75 of an inch for the month.

We’ve been wrong before.
